Michael Lavelle is a Managing Director at Appraisal Economics Inc., responsible for supervising and performing valuations of business interests, securities, and intangible assets. His clients include billion-dollar publicly traded companies, early stage ventures, ultra high net worth individuals, and state and federal government entities. He has performed valuation studies for a variety of purposes including: federal income and estate taxes, litigation, financial reporting, and solvency and fairness issues. He served as the President of the Board of the American Society of Appraiser's Northern New Jersey Chapter. Mr. Lavelle has testified as an expert witness in United States Tax Court.
Mr. Lavelle is an adjunct professor of finance at The College of New Jersey, where he teaches the time value of money, financial risk and return, the valuation of stocks and bonds, financial leverage, the cost of capital, and capital budgeting. He also serves on the School of Business's Dean's Advisory Council and has served as a judge for the annual Mayo Business Plan Competition.
